How to Convert a Webpage (HTML) to PDF

You've been "Print to PDF"-ing webpages and getting weird sidebars, ads, and broken layouts. PDFShed renders webpages cleanly to PDF — preserving the design, dropping the noise.

The problem

You found a long article you want to read offline. The browser's "Print to PDF" cuts off content, includes the sidebar, and breaks formatting. You want a clean, readable PDF.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

Open the HTML to PDF tool

Paste the URL of the webpage you want to save.

  2. 2

    Choose layout options

"Reader mode" strips ads/sidebars/navigation, keeps just article content. "Full page" preserves the entire visual page including header/footer.

  3. 3

    Pick page size

Letter, A4, or custom. Vertical (portrait) is standard for articles.

  4. 4

    Convert and download

PDF is generated using browser rendering — looks like the page would in print preview.

  5. 5

    Read offline

Save to your tablet or phone for plane reading, doctor-office waits, etc.

Pro tips

  • Reader mode often produces a cleaner result than Full page for articles. Full page is better for documentation.
  • Some sites block PDF extraction (paywalled news, login-walled apps). For those, save the page locally first (Ctrl+S) then convert offline.
  • For batches of URLs (saving 20 articles at once), no batch mode yet — process one at a time.
  • After conversion, [add bookmarks](/en/guides/add-bookmarks-to-pdf) for navigation in long articles.

Frequently asked questions

Will images load in the PDF?

Yes — images are downloaded inline and embedded. JavaScript-loaded images may not render if they require interaction.

What about behind-login content?

PDFShed can't access login-walled pages. For those, log in in your browser, save the page locally (Ctrl+S → Save as HTML), then convert.

Will the PDF be searchable?

Yes — text from the webpage is embedded as real PDF text. Selectable, copyable, indexable.

Does this work for app screens / SPAs?

Single-page apps that lazy-load content may render incompletely. For complex SPAs, take screenshots and use [Screenshot to PDF](/en/guides/convert-screenshot-to-pdf).
