Private PDF Tools — No Upload Required
Merge, split, compress, edit, sign and convert PDFs without uploading them. PDFShed does all the work locally in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
Nothing is uploaded
Your PDF is opened and processed on your own machine via WebAssembly — it is never transmitted anywhere.
Works offline
Once the tool loads, it keeps working with no internet connection. No servers involved.
Free & no sign-up
No accounts, no watermarks, no file-size limits. Just open a tool and go.
Why "no upload" matters
A PDF is often the most sensitive file you handle — signed contracts, tax forms, bank statements, medical records, passports and IDs. Most online PDF tools quietly upload that file to a remote server to process it. Even when a service promises to "delete files after an hour," your document has already left your control: it can be logged, cached, intercepted, or retained.
PDFShed takes a different approach. The entire PDF engine runs inside your browser using WebAssembly. The file is read from your disk, processed in memory on your device, and written straight back out. There is no upload step, so there is nothing to leak, log, or retain — by design, not by policy.

Frequently asked questions
Do my files get uploaded to a server?
No. Every operation runs entirely inside your web browser using WebAssembly. Your PDF is read, processed, and saved on your own device — it is never sent to PDFShed or any third party.
How is that different from other online PDF tools?
Most "online" PDF tools upload your file to their servers, process it there, and send it back. That means your document — which may contain contracts, IDs, medical or financial data — leaves your control. PDFShed never uploads anything, so there is nothing to leak, log, or retain.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the page and tool load once, processing works without an internet connection because the engine runs locally in your browser.
Is it really free?
Yes — no sign-up, no watermarks, and no file-size paywalls. Because there are no servers doing the work, there are no per-file costs to pass on to you.
Which tools work without uploading?
All of them. Merging, splitting, compressing, editing, signing, OCR, redaction, password protection, and conversions to and from Word, Excel, images and more all run locally in your browser.
